Vienna, Austria - Both course records will be under threat in the 25th Vienna City Marathon, which is likely to become Austria’s best quality road race ever. The jubilee edition of the event has already broken records before the start this Sunday (27).
Adding all running events together 29,228 athletes from more than 100 nations have entered the race so far. With late entries the total figure is expected to be up to almost 30,000. The strength of the field suggests that course records of Morocco’s Lahoucine Mrikik (2:08:20 in 2006) and Italy’s Maura Viceconte (2:23:47 in 2000) could well be broken.
