Utrecht, The Netherlands - On a cool nearly windless evening (30 May) Hilda Kibet ran currently the third fastest time of the year for the 10,000 metres in the Dutch city of Utrecht with 30:55:61.

From the gun Kibet went away with her cousin Lornah Kiplagat. The two were chasing the Dutch qualifiing standard of 31:22:14 for the Beijing Olympic Games.

The two went side by side through the 3000 metres in 9:29:78, having trained together in Kiplagat's high altitude training centre in Kigen, Kenya. Kiplagat however was affected by a viral infection there and could not train for more than a week.
