New Year, new ideas?
« on: December 31, 2008, 12:53:00 PM »
While reading about flexibility and running a comment in one post made me think...

What "new" or different thing will people here try in the new year to tray and improve there fitness or running ability?

...in 2009 I'm going to try and use an under-desk bike to get in better condition.

I have always thought my quads needed help... Sometimes feel that too much of my work day is wasted WAITING... and if nothing else, the gentle pedalling must be burning a few calories & giving my legs an 'active rest'... not that I'll be able to quantify this plan or 'prove' that it is helping... but there it is... If any one has 'proof' that 'easy' pedaling helps out I'll be happy to read it... I don't think it'll hurt and it may keep me entertained!

So how about the rest of you? anything new? or what will you continue?
Happy New Year...
-Rita

It tends to just happen for me when it does, as it occurs to me, and is not really directly tied to anything relevant to the julian calendar.
Do not support those who give a bad name to running, boycott all Devine Racing events: Marathon of Palm Beaches, New Jersey Marathon, Las Vegas Marathon, & Salt Lake City Marathon.

As with GTF, I tend to try things as the opportunity approaches. That said, the flexibility thread got me thinking (I've considered experimenting for a while) and the timing happens to work out so I'll probably be using 2009 to also give the no stretching pre-workout or pre-race idea a shot.

I'm also considering toying with a previous topic from here from Joe Henderson, the idea of backing off the hard/easy approach a bit and just gradually build pace and volume while keeping the daily volumes and paces similar. I'm not sure I'm convinced enough to jump in head first but I may modify it a bit and try it out.

I'm also going to try to continue my progression, as mentioned in yet another thread, of handling race day more like Double, being loose and relaxed pre-race, trusting in myself and my ability once the gun goes off, and also not taking the results too seriously, good or bad.
