Brian Sullivan named USATF athlete of the week
« on: December 03, 2003, 10:30:43 AM »
INDIANAPOLIS – Brian Sullivan has been named USA Track & Field’s Athlete of the Week after winning the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships South Regional Saturday, November 29 at McAlpine Greenway Park in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Sullivan, a senior at The Woodlands High School (Texas) and one of the top returning entrants, dominated the race from start to finish in 14 minutes, 46 seconds. His performance was three seconds behind the course record of 14:43 set in 2000 by Alan Webb. Sullivan placed sixth in last year's Regional.

Now in its third year, USATF’s Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the USATF website. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.
"Biased one-sided training with an overemphasis on one component or quality is one of the biggest causes of injuries today." - Vern Gambetta
