Why dink around? Go for it, be the best. It is worth whatever risk there is even if you fall short. You will be better.

I like it. I agree that 38 and rain is about as bad as it gets, though I struggled with sub-zero temps and strong winds even more yesterday than I did with 30s and rain not too long ago. I let myself think about the cold. Once I got going, it wasn't bad at all. Dress properly and it isn't a big deal.

As for reflecting on the past year and planning for the future, I do think there is a place for reflecting on the past year. We should enjoy our accomplishments. We should also think about where we fell short of our goals and why so we can correct the mistakes and not repeat them in the following year.

I know a calendar year can be an arbitrary measure of time but, around here, it can nicely coincide with a running year. This time of the year, the weather is best for a post-season recovery followed by a pre-season base building phase. As we go through these phases, I hope we all take some time to reflect on our accomplishments but, just as importantly, plan how to make 2010 an even more productive year than 2009 was. I know I'm already forming my plan and even following the early stages of it.
