Jenny Crain "Make it Happen" Benefit - February 4th

I received the below message (copied word for word here) from Robin Treder, who I'm sure most of the Milwaukee area runners here know, asking to pass it on through Hillrunner.com.

The important information on the "Make it Happen" benefit:
Date: 2/4/2010
Time: 4:00pm to midnight
Location: Whiskey Bar, 788 N Jackson St, Milwaukee

There are going to be a lot of great items to auction off, including but far from limited to a 2009 NYCM poster signed by all 4 winners (Meb Keflezighi, Derartu Tulu, Kurt Fearnley, and Edith Hunkeler), Boston Marathon finish line bleacher passes, entries to the Houston Marathon and Bay to Breakers, and a copy of Duel in the Sun signed by Alberto Salazar and Dick Beardsley.

Many members of the Milwaukee running community will be there, as well as some notable runners from outside of the community such as Anne Marie Letko.

I hope some of the locals and semi-locals can make it. I have the event in my calendar and am doing all I can to make sure I will be there.

The message from Robin:

Jenny, along with her friends and family pulling together the Jenny Crain "Make it Happen" Benefit to be held on February 4th from 4pm until midnight at the Whiskey Bar in downtown Milwaukee. Doors open at 4:00, and there is no cover charge for the event.  Donations, however, will not be refused. There will be two live bands for entertainment, a silent auction and a live auction as well as some raffle prizes. There are some terrific items going up for bid and these great items continue to grow every day. Proceeds from the event are to help with the costs of her ongoing therapy and medical bills.

I welcome you to check out two websites (below) to learn more about Jenny Crain as well as this benefit. The facebook page has a listing of the current items for the auction and will provide instruction on online bidding. Please pass the word around to "Make it Happen."

If it were more local to me I would for sure be there.

I realize it isn't local for a lot of people. I wish those who were not local would be able to make it but, obviously, it can't be local to everyone and not everyone can make it.

Anyone who would like to help Jenny out even if they can't make it, check out I believe either of the links above to see how you can. There are wrist bands available for a $5 donation (plus shipping for those not local to Milwaukee), there will be an online auction for which information will be made available on Facebook and I would guess on Jenny's site, or you can of course make a direct donation.

Jenny and her family and friends greatly appreciate all the support, financial and otherwise, that everyone has been giving. I'm sure the appreciation has not and will not fade with time.

Just a reminder for those who will be in the Milwaukee area this week, the benefit is being held this Thursday in downtown Milwaukee. I'm pretty sure I'll be there at least for a little while. I hope to see some of you there.
