Data can be very useful – if used at the right time

I recently wrote about my experiences with my new Garmin. My summary of this watch would be wow, it’s amazing how much data a little device on your wrist can give you in real time.

This, though, can be a double edged sword.

Don’t overlook the 99%

People like her need to worry about the last 1%, most of us don’t cover the first 99%.

I see so many people worrying about that last 1% it takes to be great. Those little things that will make the difference of seconds. I’m not a fan.

Why not? Why not squeeze out every second you can get? What if you come up 3 seconds short of your goal and that extra 1% would have been worth 5 seconds?

You can’t do everything

If you’re going to add, be prepared to also subtract

Often, runners see a new idea or think over their training and discover that something is missing. They then want to add it to their training. I recently mentioned avoiding getting caught up in the hype of “Instagram workouts” but what I’m thinking of is something more basic and often not a bad idea.
