Here’s the scoop:
1) Back in 2004, the date for the Lakefront Marathon was set as Sunday, October 1st, 2006.
2) Rosh Hashanah falls of Saturday, September 23rd, 2006. Children’s Hospital is worried that they won’t raise as much money if the walk/run is held that day. However, the Komen run (another large fundraiser walk/run) takes place the previous weekend, which is why Children’s Hospital decided to move it to Saturday, September 30th, 2006.
3) The Badgerland Striders have kindly asked Children’s Hospital to change the date. We specifically told them that we will not be able to manage the race or provide equipment or services next year unless the date is changed.
BTW – In 2007, Chicago and Lakefront are both scheduled for the same day!
