When I’m focused on building mileage I keep it simple. I run as far as I feel like going each day (keeping in mind that I have to come back the next day) and try to do more then the week before. I don’t bother scheduling any runs save the long run. Now, if you’re building mileage with workouts involved I would go the same route you referred to and keep most of the days the same while going longer on 1 or 2 days each week.
