I ran the DC marathon in 2002 and had sigend up for the second one which was how I got my entry for the National… it ran much more in DC… I agree that if I had run the full I would have wanted to run more in DC… and as boring as Rock Creek Park & Haines Point are I’m sure that if you took a poll on the hills when people hit mile 25 they would have voted for a bit flatter marathon…

I don’t think there is a “good weekend”… I don’t think they want to go head to head with Shamrock which has established itself fairly well and was my choice for a spring marathon last year and the weather in DC is too unpredictable to go much earlier…

but they DO NEED a BIG SPONSOR… and it would help if the mayor didn’t make negative comments too… and the decision to only accept qualifying runners might have been a bit presumptuous for a first time race…
