Thanks everyone for the advice. Yout right that training for a 5 or 10k will help me gain speed which can only help me in the marathon.
I am lucky to live in an area where shorter races are available every weekend (except in winter). In fact, on most weekends, I can choose from several.
For next couple of weeks I will continue my recovery with gradually increasing mileage. Meanwhile I will plan new workouts to prepare for several 5’ks in late June or early July.
Who knows, with enough work I may suprise myself by going under 20:00 in a 5k. For me that would feel as good as running under 3:15 in a marathon.
