Since I can’t figure out how to update my profile and get it to display this info, I’ll tell you who I am (for those who haven’t guessed).
Joel Patenaude’s the name, editor of Silent Sports magazine’s my game. Actually, it’s hard to believe nearly 18 months have passed since I stepped into founding editor Greg Marr’s sizeable shoes after his sudden passing. It’s been my great fortune to keep his humble regional mag going and spend my time thinking, talking and writing about running, biking, paddling and skiing — when I’m not actually doing the same.
I live and work in Waupaca, Wis., and hail from the Mt. Horeb area, so I’m well aware of how spoiled I am for great running terrain and scenery. over the past 12 years or so, I’ve also worked at newspapers in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Boulder, Col., and overseas.
I just wanted y’all to know, without causing paranoia, that there’s a “journalist” lurking about. Not to worry, I’m an ethical one who will not quote or publish anything I read here. Certainly not without getting permission first. I really only wish to learn, on a personal level, from the vast experience I can see you folks have as runners.
And just so you know, I discovered the site little more than a day or two before my first post. I was impressed with the dialogue and am all the more so after getting some great advice and perspectives.
If you’ll have me, I’d like to partake regularly.
