I was probably right next to you at the mile mad town, since I was at 5:35. I did not slow as much as you, but my 4th mile of 6:32 was pretty bad. Redeemed myself somewhat with a 6:00 for the last .97. But 30:21 for 74th place wasn’t too bad for no speedwork. If I’d known you were that close, I’d have stuck around and had a beer with you, or at least had you go with Ryan and me on our cool down which turned out to be longer than the race itself (6.5 miles)
edit – guess I did better than I thought. I just looked at the Wisconsin State Journal’s special section on the race, and I was 74th out of 7889 runners, so top 1% works out ok. Also, I finished 3rd in the 40-44 age group 😮
I wonder if there’s any award for that, since Ryan and I did not stick around for it. Plus Ryan and my picture (partially obscured) was on the front of the paper, and I saw myself on the news last night…
