Actually, the Twin Cities was looking at a 2020 bid. I believe Chicago was looking at a 2016 bid and looking for regional support with some events held in the Milwaukee area and some in Indiana. That would be a strong bid but Chicago is not nearly as far along in the bidding process as Tokyo. If it came down to spreading out the events, Chicago, LA, or another American city would have a good shot. If it goes to the best bid regardless of location, I think Tokyo would have to be the odds on favorite.
