I didn’t see the race but, looking at the field, I like the matchup of the two dominant forces (El G and Morceli) in 96 even better. Then, there’s the early 80s with the great British middle distance runners. Go back even farther and there are Olympic matchups like Kip Keino/Jim Ryun. It seems like the 1500 is simply an event that frequently offers great matchups. Of course, that’s just for the top runners. In total depth, this one is pretty impressive.
