I totally agree about the correct way to race hills. Some runners seem to like to try and make a point by hitting the uphills hard, while I just relax and think about how fun it’s gonna be to fly by them on the way down. One point I wanted to add… when running uphill, many people will instinctively lean forward. In fact, the most efficient way to run the hill is to shift your body weight back a little bit. The same can be said for downhills. Many people tend to run more upright, or even lean back, when in fact it’s more efficient to shift your body weight forward a little bit. When you do anything else, you’re basically putting on the brakes… not the way to take advantage of the situation.
