I think they work wonders and it's not like you have to spend a lot of time doing them.  Maybe spend 20 minutes 2-3 days a week after you run.

I've had this discussion with several trainers & my massage person, most suggested that you can do abs just about every day as there are a variety of exercises… I fit them in along with my stretching last thing every evening… used to do it right before bed, now I've even started doing them while watching TV, makes me feel less guilty about the Law & Order reruns 😉

for me, this has helped with lower back issues (as well as stopping the TV snacking!)
