My goal race is a half marathon – so I was under the thought of less a need of 60-70 miles per week versus the need for a full marathon.  I see that bigger base can never hurt – but I am looking to add much more speed. 

I was thinking that the anaerobic phase would set my base building speed at a new level – so that when I got to the second anaerobic phase I would build upon that phase.  But I'll take the advice from you all (much more experienced than me) and learn by doing.
