There is a definite division between what constitutes sport and what constitutes fitness/exercise activity, between a race and an organized walk/hike. There is nothing at all wrong with organized walks/hikes (even staged as benefit fund-raisers), I just do not see that the sport really benefits from piggy-backing them onto competitions. In what other sport, major or minor, is there such a push to be as inclusive as possible of the uncompetitive types in competitive contests in a capacity beyond spectating or officiating?
