Running Times a couple years ago cited a 2007 abstract from an American sports physiology seminar saying that the socks appeared to clear lactate more quickly, thus possibly helping in recovery. But I couldn't find the abstract online. It's easier to find results from a 1997 fun run in New England than abstracts from one of the premier sports physiologist conventions. Go figure.

Anyway, yes I'm a skeptic too.
