Rodale must be the Fox News of publishing, then. At what price success? At RW all they have done is carry on with marketing to the LCD, except the new publisher and editor have perhaps taken things across a line that Hirsch, Henderson, et alia were unwilling or simply unable to cross. Nothing against the one I prefer, RT, but within the genre what competition does RW really face? Trail Runner, Marathon & Beyond? Cult/niche publications all, neither seems to have aims of significantly broad appeal and seemingly (hopefully) neither does RT (though it can sometimes be hard to tell from some of the articles that have been included) — profits may be the goal of business, but increasing profits at a rate that requires shedding support of certain noble ideals should not be a requirement to remain viable.
