What would be the point of sharpening leg speed at this point?
Well said. I think a tempo run or short hill bursts once a week would benefit me just as well anyway without hindering my mileage building. The 200 meter strides were probably a bad idea at this point in training.
I am also a little confused about tempos/fartleks/hill burst. Are these still considered aerobic? If so then in theory can we assume that they can be implemented weekly with base building without causing problems?? Example…30 mpw and 1 day add a tempo at end of a run. Next week go 33 mpw and add hill bursts 1 day of the week at end of a run. Next week 35mpw and add fartleks throughout a run. Alternating between those 3 workouts each week.
