Out of curiosity, how have you come to define this “best steady state” pace? I personally still have a bit of trouble defining that pace.

FWIW, I’ve had more runs at 7:30+ pace than I’ve had at sub-7:00 pace over the past month or so and, while it’s too far out to set goals, I’m thinking a goal that would involve sub-6:00 pace is at the moment far from out of the question. I’d be more worried about running too fast than running too slow at this time.
