Agreed. Going off the “running news” topic here but it would probably be best in the long run for the country to get out from under the fiscal stranglehold China has us in right now. The problem is that it would be very painful for this country in the short run and would be a suicide wish for any politician who could in any way be viewed as prompting such an action or even “letting it happen”.

To get more on topic, I can't recall so I honestly ask this question for my own education. Is there really no precedent for Bush to attend? I thought opening ceremonies tended to bring in the dignitaries from around the world, is it usually a lower level American dignitary who attends? (I guess this shows how much attention I pay to opening ceremonies at the Olympics…)
