As I see it, a pacer is not in the race and never intended to be a part of the race, they are not being paid to lose, they are being paid to guide another runner for a specified time/ distance during an event. 

I do not like the idea of pacers especially for “Elites” and I think no paced time should be a record especially in events with “individual records.”

I was going to say that I liked the idea of pacers for the common runners – but then I thought about it and decided that runners should be responsible to themselves to race and learn from each experience tom race better the next time.

Banning pacers and putting in time bonuses based on amount of time ahead of the next runner could really push runners to race at their edge and take the make or break chances.
