Layne, thanks for the input. It's good to get the story from someone who was actually there. There are a lot of stories flying around right now that do not shed a good light on the marathon or the marathoners. I'm actually about to post on the general running forum a response I made elsewhere to someone who seemed upset about newspaper articles that seemed to be questioning the sanity of some of the runners. I think many people could have handled the circumstances faced Sunday better. It sounds like you and your friend were two who could teach some of the other runners how to handle those circumstances.
