Andrew A. – 1. I don't believe all runners can “feel” or know what a good training pace is. 2. Jack Daniels is a very respected “coach” 3. A race, and then a book, can give you something to start with, and yes after that you can adjust. 4. I have “felt” yucky and thought I can only go slow, when actually I was able to do the workout that I had planned. SO feel can be deceiving.
