I currently run to compete and spend little time cruising the internet to see how Joe from accounting managed to jam two 4:20 marathons together in back to back weekends. During training I will literally run close to a Boston qualifier every weekend just for grins. I’m not saying that to be a harda$$. That’s what it takes to be competitive in an uncompetitive sport. It’s not all blue skies and a couple long runs as some would think.
This post isn’t directed towards anybody who has already posted, it just kills me that those who are willing to pay the price are in the vast minority today. Everyone wishes they had all this talent. Blah-blah-blah. How about coming out at 5 AM this winter when it’s 10 degrees everyday and windier than hell and running for an hour or two…and hey, those are the good days.
