Olympic 800m champion Yuriy Borzakovskiy will make his 2007 debut at the Prefontaine Classic, an IAAF Grand Prix status meeting within the IAAF World Athletics Tour which takes place on Sunday 10 June 2007 at the city’s Hayward Field.
The 26-year-old Russian, twice a silver medallist at the World Championsips, hasn't raced since last August's Weltklasse Golden League meeting in Zurich. In Eugene he will face a solid line-up to gauge his early season fitness as he begins his campaign to August's World Championships.
In a previous Prefontaine appearance, Borzakovskiy finished second to Canadian Gary Reed in 2005, behind Reed's 1:44.82 national record. Reed, who has since lowered his Canadian standard to 1:43.93, will also return.
