Chicago, USA – The men went for a fast time and the women respected the weather at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon as Kenya's Evans Cheruiyot, 26, broke away from runner up and fellow countryman David Mandago, 30, in the 24th mile to run a personal best of 2:06:25 in the men's race.  Russia's Lidiya Grigoryeva, 34, took the lead for good in the 21st mile and defeated teammate, Alevtina Bikimirova, 26, by over two minutes to take the women's title in 2:27:17.
