Abdelkader El Mouaziz may not have been close to the winner at the end of the London Marathon’s men’s race on 17 April, but by reaching the finish in 2:09:03 the Moroccan star continued a phenomenal run in the British capital.

For the eighth consecutive year he broke 2:10 there, the best such streak at a single race. He posted a 2:08:07 in 1998 and has followed with 2:07:57 (1999), 2:07:33 (2000), 2:07:11 (2001), 2:06:52 (2002), 2:08:03 (2003) and 2:09:42 (2004) prior to this year.
