If anyone thought Ethiopian athletics died and was buried in the Mombasa heat in March after distance running legend Kenenisa Bekele threw in the towel in the final lap of the World Cross Championships' men's race, then there is bad news from Addis Ababa.
Ethiopia is set to continue its dominance in distance running, thanks to a big investment by the Ethiopian Athletics Federation, which is constructing four training camps to act as steady production lines for world beaters.
One of the four centres is being constructed in Bekoji, about 200 kilometres from Addis Ababa, in the Oromiya region that has produced world beaters like Bekele, Tirunesh Dibaba, Derartu Tulu and Haile Gebrselassie.
