Russia’s Lioudmila Kortchaguina was the women’s winner, recording her 10th marathon victory. Muchiri finished unofficially in 2 hours, 17 minutes, 21 seconds on a course that started at the University of Utah and finished downtown at the Olympic Legacy Plaza. Muchiri’s previous best in a marathon was fourth place in Minneapolis. He took the lead Saturday near the 12-mile mark and held it the rest of the way. Kortchaguina was timed in 2:30:47.
