In the Parelloop (Pearl Run) held in the Southern Dutch town of Brunssum, today, Micah Kogo of Kenya ran the third fastest ever 10 kilometres on the road. The East-African clocked a time of 27:07 missing the World record of Ethiopia’s Haile Gebrselassie by a mere five seconds (27:02 РDoha, 11/12/2002). It was the fastest time so far in the world this year.

Kogo was far too strong for his nearest opponent and compatriot Barnabas Kosgei who lost by one minute and 26 seconds. Another Kenyan, Charles Koech finished third in 28:37.
