In his first race since the 2006 IAAF World Cup, Saif Saaeed Shaheen was defeated in the 5000m at the 3rd Artur Takac Memorial in Belgrade on Thursday (29).

Competing in the 5000m, the Qatari finished second behind Ethiopian 19-year-old Imane Marga Zida of Ethiopia, 13:24.29 to 13:29.83. Shaheen, the World record holder in the 3000m Steeplechase at 7:53.63 from 2004, last raced at the World Cup in Athens, where he captured the 5000m/3000m Steeplechase double. Shaheen currently carries a 24-race win streak in his specialty, the longest in the sport among men.
