Led by a national title from Chris Solinsky, the University of Wisconsin men's track and field team leads the NCAA indoor championships after the first day of competition in Fayetteville, Ark.
The Badgers scored 20 points through seven events to maintain a five-point lead over Auburn, Tennessee, Arkansas and Florida State, who are all tied for second.
“You give a little bit, you take a little bit. We would have liked to been a little better in the (5,000) but obviously, we didn't anticipate the (distance medley relay) finishing third,” said Badgers coach Ed Nuttycombe. “The DMR not only gave us more points than expected but also gave us a little jump start and some excitement for tomorrow. We're in it and its going to come down to who can do the job on the final day.”
