INDIANAPOLIS – Tianna Madison has been named USA Track & Field’s Athlete of the Week after setting a world-leading mark in the women’s long jump Saturday at the Gatorade Classic in Knoxville, Tennessee.

A sophomore at the University of Tennessee, Madison leaped 6.82 meters/22 feet, 4.50 inches on her first attempt. The 2004 USA Junior long jump champion and 2003 Pan Am junior team member, Madison established a school and meet record on Saturday to qualify for the NCAA Regionals.
