The Hague, The Netherlands – A trio of sub-60 minute half marathoners will toe the line at the 34th City-Pier-City Half Marathon in The Hague, organisers announced today.
Organisers confirmed Patrick Makau Musyoki, Deribe Merga and Francis Kibiwott for the 15 March race. Of the three, Musyoki is the fastest, with a 58:56 personal best from last year's Berlin Half Marathon. That performance makes Musyoki the third fastest-ever over the distance.
Last year the 22-year-old Kenyan clocked four sub-60 minute performances. Besides Berlin, he was second in Ras al Khaimah on 9 February (59:13); second in Rotterdam (9 September) in 59:19; and second at the World Road Running Championships in Udine (14 October) in 59:02.
