Seaman, Dow win at USA Track & Field 20 km World Cup Trials
Tim Seaman and Joanne Dow won The University of Health Sciences USA Team Trials- IAAF World Race Walking Cup men’s and women’s 20 km trials titles Sunday at Corporate Woods North Park in Overland Park, Kansas.
Seaman, who won in 1 hour, 26 minutes and 9 seconds, also won USATF 20 km titles in 1998, 2000 and 2002. Curt Clausen was the runner-up to Seaman, finishing in 1:27:30. Dow won the women’s title in 1:34:44, while Teresa Vaill finished second in 1:36:49.
In junior men’s 10 km competition, Zackary Pollinger won in 45:52, while Megan Huzzey won the junior women’s 10 km race in 50:23.
Texas women 1,600-meter relay team sets collegiate record
The University of Texas’ team of Sheretta Jones, Raasin McIntosh, Jerrika Chapple and Sanya Richards set a new collegiate women’s 1600m relay record Saturday at the Texas Relays in Austin.
The Texas team won the race in 3 minutes, 23.75 seconds, bettering the previous standard of 3:26.46 set by South Carolina in 2002. McIntosh added a victory in the 400m hurdles in 55.29 seconds.
Also at the Texas Relays, Larry Wade set a meet and stadium record in the 110m hurdles, winning in 13.13 seconds. In other action, Angela Daigle, Chryste Gaines, Inger Miller and Torri Edwards (Team USA Red) set a meet record in winning the 400-meter relay in 42.70. In the women’s 1,600-meter relay Ellannee Richardson, Debbie Dunn, Allyson Felix and Mary Danner (Team USA Red) won in 3:25.90.
