Did 13.1 Sunday and it felt great – good slow pace just under 9:00 mpm. Will rest today per my schedule. Got in 8 miles w/ 10 strides. The base pace was at 7:4? and the stride pace was at 5:12. Finished the 8 miles in 59:40 and it felt great. Wednesday is a rest day and Thursday is scheduled for 10 – guess I’ll be going over the 60 minute time limit that day 😆

I going to do a twenty miler this Saturday. For my other two quality days I’m trying to decide between 5 x 1000m at VO2max pace, a medium distance run (~14), and a tempo run with ~5 miles at LT pace.

I am really frustrated. I actually ran 12.5 this morning. I felt fabulous for the run, the entire thing, but around mile 8 I got a stabbing pain just below my left calf. I couldn’t exactly quit because we were on a loop. Now it hurts just walking, and I am frustrated because I have really been improving over the last couple of weeks and feeling so much stronger. I’ve been having strong runs back to back and overall feeling a sense of improvement. This thing is kind of out of the blue. I am hoping that it improves throughout the day, and will only run if there is no pain tomorrow…. 😡 Guess I’m not the best company right now.

I am just trying to stay positive and take care of myself…

    Tuesday – 6 miles

    Friday – 5 miles + strides

    Saturday – 5 miles

    Sunday – 10 miles

26 miles in the snow for the week. One month ago I [email protected] miles and since have run 13, 22, 20, 26. I would run more but running through the Winter is new for me and I’m concerned about doing too much too soon due to an old post-tib injury. Last year I started in March and improved my half-marathon time by 9 minutes[1:39]. I’d like to drop another 4 minutes this Summer, and next year approach my times before the injury[1:32]. Man, that 10 miler is kicking my ass today!

Yesterday I completed my highest mileage week ever!!!!!

    Here are the results:

    Monday 24-Jan 11.1 – 1:31:53

    Tuesday 25-Jan 9.2 – 1:17:23

    Wednesday 26-Jan 25.65 – 3:44:16

    Thursday 27-Jan 9.2 – 1:20:35

    Friday 28-Jan 11.1 – 1;33:22

    Saturday 29-Jan 3.1 – 20:53 (Gun Time)

    Saturday 29-Jan 12.8 – 1:52:19

    Totals 82.15 – for a total time of 11:40:41

Some people are not a big believer in mega mileage but as I trained for my second 50K and my mileage was getting higher and higher I decided to make a try for it. After about 3 trys of arranging my schedule due to work and other activitites I came up with the above schedule.. All my runs felt really good. No major aches or pains, just a little soreness which can be expected. I am now looking forward to my taper weeks. (Only 21 days to go)

    Mon: 6 Easy

    Tue: 7 Hills (14x400m)

    Wed: 13 Easy

    Thu: 7 Hills (14 x 400m)

    Fri: 6 Easy

    Sat: 20 Long (8:08 overall)

Sun: 12 Marathon Pace (7:33 overall)

    Total: 71 Miles

Saturdays run was depressing. I usually finish long runs strong but didn’t have anything left over the last few miles. Felt pain in the leg and was happy glad the run was over. Luckily it wasn’t race day.

Felt better on Sunday. Usually only run about half at MP but this time did the entire workout at MP or better. Even did a few miles in the middle at 7:10 pace.

Really wierd after the lack luster long run on Saturday. Maybe the hill workouts took more out of me than I thought. This week I will do only 1 hill run. I’ll try a tempo on the other quality day. 12 weeks till the marathon. Feeling good, hopefully no more long runs like Saturday, more runs like Sunday.

Sunday it was snowing, already a couple inches on the ground… I figured it was better to just stay in the neighborhood… around the block is 2 miles so I did two loops and then came in for whatever I needed (fuel/water) after 12 miles I changed my shoes, socks, shirt & polar fleece since I was soaked to the skin… but it was fun… not boring at all since I had to watch my footing on the side walks and slush puddles when I crossed streets… but the steady crunch and slight cushioning was the BEST…

Not a great week here, nasty cold w/sore throat.

    1/25 sick

    1/26 5 miles

    1/27 6 miles

    1/28 4 miles

    Floridaboiler,

Are you running with a GPS unit or what? Congrats on the new PR. Hopefully it’ll pay off in 3 weeks.

It’s great to see so many people jump in and post there outstanding weeks. Just based on what I see it looks like everyone is going to have to re-write their PRs after this winter.

Anyway, I thought I’d take this opportunity to mention the on-line training log that some of the hillrunner gang is using, http://www.running-log.com Right now there are about 5-6 of us posting our workouts. I think it’s a great way to see what others are doing (with more details than the weekly thread) and stay motivated.

So if people are interested, maybe Ryan can post or email you the log-in info to join our team.
