    I’ve had a bad week due to a muscle problem, but things are finally looking up with it….

    1/30 – 12.5 (hurt leg)

    1/31 – rested leg

    2/1 – rested leg

    2/2 – 2 miles jogging

    2/3 – 3.6 miles jogging

    2/4 – 5.5 miles jogging

    2/5 – 5/4 miles easy

    We finally had some relief from the frigid weather. Nice to get out in shorts and a tee again.

    At the half-way point in the hill phase things look good. Starting to feel real onfidence in a sub 3:20. Hope I still feel like that in 11 weeks.

    Fri – 10.5 Tempo, what a great run, sunny in the 50’s, wearing shorts. Tempo portion went great.

    Sat – 6 easy

    Sun – 20 felt stronger this week than last

    Total – 65.5

    Between the 25K race a couple of weeks ago, Friday’s tempo run and just getting in the miles with no problems, I’m starting to feel good about being ready for Boston.

    Fell a little short of the 87 the program called for but I think I was close enough w/ 84. Happy with my long run yesterday. Did some Boston specific hill training where I ran uphill for about two miles and then pounded my quads for awhile going downhill at marathon pace.

    I did this on singles again, need to find a way to get in a couple doubles.

    Week 8 – 10 to go

    Monday Easy in CP 8.2

    Tuesday Easy in CP – 2 x big hill 9.5

    Wednesday Easy from Convent, 5 w/ running co, return to Convent 13

    Thursday Progression in CP 8.2

    Friday Easy for most but picked it up at the end – up to 125th street on west side, back through the park 13

    Saturday Easy around giralda loop 9.8

    Sunday very strong long run in CT, lots of good hill work

    Note: All running was at a comfortable pace except friday which was one of my faster runs in a while.

    1/30-x-country skiing (2.5 hrs)

    1/31-5 miles

    2/1-downhill skiing including several wipeouts

    2/2-5 miles

    2/3-2×1200, 1×800,1×400,1×200,6×100 strides- warm up & cool down

    2/4- 7 miles

    2/5- walk

    The hip is still bothering me but seems to be getting better.
