I think most of my “magic was being able to get in 1000 miles of training for this race. Plus for me the weather was perfect. It was 30 degrees at the start and around 55 by the time I finished. I have found in the past that as the temps go up my times increase exponentially.February 22, 2005 at 12:28 am in reply to: 4:40 or Bust aka The Silver Comet Ultra (50K version) #17831Zeke wrote:Floridaboiler,
Way to go!!! We’ve got PRs dropping all over this board.
I don’t suppose you happened to run into “Double” did you? I’m curious how his 100k went. I looked for results but their website said they’d be updated once the webmaster got back from Mexico. I thought that was funny. I know you ultra guys are a different breed, but I didn’t know it applied to the webmasters too.
I didn’t know there was a guy from here running the 100. I am trying to get into the ultra listserv so I will try and and cut and paste the full results here.
Monday – 6.8
Tuesday – 6.8
Wednesday – 11.1
Thursday – 6
Friday – 6
Total – 36.7
I even got to run in the day light 2 days this week!
That was some cool information, Thanks.
That is a little over the top for a Prom!
January was a pretty good month for me. I ended up at 305.95 miles. That it the most miles I have ever run in a month. Hopefully all the training pays off in 2 weeks.
The only races I currently have planned for the Spring are the Silver Comet Ultra in Atlanta on 02/19 (This replaces the Guana 50K which got postponed until April)
Then the Gate River Run on March 12.

Some people are not a big believer in mega mileage but as I trained for my second 50K and my mileage was getting higher and higher I decided to make a try for it. After about 3 trys of arranging my schedule due to work and other activitites I came up with the above schedule.. All my runs felt really good. No major aches or pains, just a little soreness which can be expected. I am now looking forward to my taper weeks. (Only 21 days to go)

A lot of you crank out the miles!!

I felt pretty good this week. This ended up being my highest mileage week ever. In 2 weeks I might break 70 (or is it this week, I need to check my training plan). Everything is holding up pretty well. I just need to be smart about my eating snacks and drinking the adult beverages.
It was 41 felt like 27 this morning. Definitely a tights and long sleeve morning for this cold weather wimp.
