We’re in that season in the United States. Crazy season, where among many other things we get to hear about “flip flopping”. If anyone has ever changed their mind, that’s a terrible thing.
The thing is, in most aspects of life, changing your mind isn’t a bad thing. This holds very true for running, even though people (myself included) have been attacked for changing their minds or suggesting that something that works for one person might not work for someone else.
The truth, in running as well as almost every aspect of life, is that what we know changes over time. In addition, circumstances and the context of a question might change over time or be different from one person to the next. As these things happen, if your opinion doesn’t change, you’re going to be left in the past.
As information and circumstances change, please change your mind. This isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s a sign of strength and resiliency.
