Lessons from the 2026 Winter Olympics

The Olympics has come and gone. As usual, I have the feeling that it was all too short. Also as usual, I felt there were plenty of inspiring moments and learning opportunities. Many of these overlapped.

While I’m not going to give an exhaustive list, I’m going to share a few of the top lessons I saw at the Olympics and why they are going to stick with me.

Runners: Stubborn? Never!

For some reason, runners often get stereotyped as stubborn. I have no idea why. It’s not like we will get our run in regardless of the weather. It’s not like we will run at any time of the day or night to get our runs in. It’s not like we will do anything to avoid missing a workout.

So maybe we are a little stubborn. The good news is that, 99% of the time, being stubborn is a good thing as a runner.

Ask me anything

It’s that time again! Your chance to ask me anything you would like. As I always mention, this is always one of my favorite things to do.

Almost nothing is off limits. Feel free to ask me about training, racing, what’s going on at HillRunner.com, or anything else. This is my invitation to you to ask whatever you would like.

Thank you

This Thanksgiving, I have so much to be thankful for personally. The HillRunner.com community is definitely part of what I will be giving thanks for today.
