I almost missed this! How could I?
Happy 25th “birthday” to HillRunner.com and the fabulous community that has formed around this little corner of the Internet.
25 years and almost two weeks ago now, on April 5th, 1999, I registered the domain HillRunner.com because my little running page on the UW-Stout student pages outgrew my account. I wasn’t sure what would become of HillRunner.com but I knew I wanted a place for something bigger.
Everyone who has been a part of this community has had a hand in shaping this site. I have always let you guide the site. I see what you’re interested in and, while being true to myself, always allow the site flow in the direction the community expresses interest in seeing it go. I can’t even describe how grateful I am to you, the wonderful community that has grown around HillRunner.com.
One thing remains true through all of the changes over the past 25 years, though. One of my inspirations for doing what I’ve been doing here has been Coach Conway. I asked him how I could ever pay him back for all he had done for me and he told me pay it forward. I’ve always tried doing that here. From free tools and advice to, for those of you who want more, more detailed and frequent advice and direct one on one help at below market prices, I always try to give more than I receive in an effort to pay it forward.
Wow, I can’t believe 25 years has passed. Here’s to a wonderful next 25 years!
